I grew up in Queens, where my dad—a refugee from Europe who knew the importance of a functioning democracy—was a member of the local Democratic Club. My first taste of politics was going door-to-door with him in the apartment buildings on Burden Crescent to get petition signatures.
Education was key. I attended New York City public schools and graduated from Stuyvesant High School as part of the third class of women admitted to that previously all-male school. I graduated from Barnard College with a degree in Economics, and from Fordham Law School.
I am a practicing lawyer and have been litigator at a Manhattan law firm for more than 30 years, currently working part-time. On a pro bono basis, I have handled numerous election law cases for Democratic candidates and elected officials.
I am proud to have been Chair of the Greenburgh Democratic Town Committee, and an Executive Committee member of the Westchester County Democratic Committee, for the last 18 years. Before that, I was Chair of the Dobbs Ferry Democratic Committee for 7 years. I’ve been a Democratic District Leader for 25 years and a Westchester resident for 30 years.
